A Creative Habit

Having a creative life is possible for every body.

Selling a creative life is not for everyone.

I believe it is possible to learn to sell, but it is necessary to have habits that facilitate developing your creative skills.

This is not easy.

My approach for developing my creative skills involves a lot of experimenting and failing.

Today, I am sharing three daily habits I am currently experimenting with that will hopefully delay my drawing, writing and brand awareness skills.

1.     Stoic Notes (daily writing practice)

In the Reibert-Anthony Instagram account I share post it notes I makes based on the reading for the day in The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living.

2.     Drawing pad (Daily drawing practice)

Working my full-time job as a phlebotomist leaves me little time for growing my pattern design business. Keeping a drawing pad to make daily drawings of potential patterns I can make has helped me stay motivated and focused on developing my drawing skills. Currently I am working on creating a PHLEBOTOMY Collection. I hope to have 10-12 pattern designs completed by November 2022.

3.     Keeping RUN Shoe stickers in my wallet (Brand awareness)

To overcome the struggle of talking about Reibert-Anthony Studio to other people I keep RUN Shoe stickers in my wallet to give out to people I talk to about my business. On the back of every sticker, I wrote this quote:

“All your limits exist within you. All your actions create the reality you perceive”

Sharing with others a sticker that is a part of my RUN collection and adding a quote that was inspired by one of my Stoic notes has made it easier for me to explain the intentions and values of my business.

It took me a long time to be figure what habits I could do to help me build and develop my creative skills.

If you are struggling with creating daily habits that help you maintain/grow creative skills, consider developing skills that improve these tree essential skills for a creative business.

1)    Writing

2)    Drawing

3)    Brand Awareness

Let me know in the comments what are different ways that you will experiment in developing these three skills.

Peace out,

Reiberto Montiel Perez
