Day 10: Four Steps to Quality Illustrations

Feliz Domingo! Happy Sunday!

Taking a break from studying and doing homework to write a little. So far the classes I’m taking at ACC are interesting and challenging enough that I think I’ll get good value out of it.

Right now I am working on drawing the manikin frame, we are using an exercise from the book,The Natural Way to Draw by Kimon Nicolaides. My professor, Matthew Stavrowsky, taught us that the four steps in making a quality illustration are

1. Capturing Pose Correctly 2. Proportion 3. Shape 4. Line Quality

I’m hoping to apply these 4 steps to my artwork consistently. Seems like a simple concept but I’m learning it can be complicated at times. I’m sure with time and the more I practice it, I will be able to do it effortlessly (or at least not as much effort).

Peace out,

Reibert-Anthony
