Something About Starting

The 5 Steps that may or may not lead to a successful start in 2021.

HAPPY FUCKIN 2021!! It’s the start of a new year and I want to remind everyone that’s it is not easy to change old shitty habits. I am sure no one needs this reminder, but it sets the mood for the rest of this blog post.

My shitty habits include being inconsistent in developing my writing, and creative skills. It’s a struggle to ignore all the shiny things like the new Netflix movie (Netflix 2021 Film Preview) or going out to have a few drinks.

I believe the best way to try to break any cycle is to create an environment that makes the new habit easier to consistently do. This guy agrees 13 Strategies to upgrade your 2021 Goals so You Achieve Them Months Faster by Anthony Moore

In the spirit of making a better environment, I am starting this blog that will keep me accountable for developing my writing and creative skills.

I will share with y’all 5 Steps I will take in order to make this happen.

First Step Create a list of 12 books I will read by the end of the year. Giving myself a month to read each one.

LIST OF BOOKS AND THEIR ASSIGNED MONTH

Second Step Create illustrations for the each book. These Illustrations will include motivational, entertaining, and possibly helpful content.

Third Step Post bi-weekly blog post on my progress. These post might be informative, entertaining, or they could be depressing, I have no idea. We are still in a pandemic (COVID-19 Variants) and it does feel like we are on the brink of total chaos.

Fourth Step Fuck shit up and see how it goes. This is all a learning process and I will commit mistakes but will learn to be compassionate with myself in order to continue growing as an artist.

Fifth Step Bring awareness to different local nonprofit organizations and people that are creating good vibes for the community.

My approach is simple, but I know there will be days that I won’t feel as motivated.  I plan on reading about Stoic Philosophy every day in order to keep myself motivated.

I have enjoyed reading The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living to help keep my intentions and goals in focus. (The Instagram page @DailyStoic is an awesome page to follow.)

I hope this blog post motivates y’all to take steps towards getting your shit together.

Peace out,

Reibert-Anthony
