Reibert-Anthony: An introduction
I am just now realizing that one of the mistakes I made when I started this blog, and this creative journey is not giving a proper introduction of me and the name Reibert-Anthony. The following is where and who helped come up with the name Reibert-Anthony.
Hi my name is Reiberto Antonio Montiel Perez Junior. I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela but raised in Austin, TX since I was two years old.
My story begins when my parents were deciding on what to name their first son, me.
My dad wanted to honor his elders/family legacy and give me his name. The passing down of names is a Latino tradition that exist in many countries in Latin America.
My mom had a different idea. She knew that their plan was to eventually move to the United States and would be raising her kids in an American culture. She wanted her son to have a name that was assimilated to the American culture. Her solution was naming her son Reibert-Anthony.
Now after 28 years of no one knowing about the unique name that a Venezuelan Immigrant mother thought of, I have brought it to life by making it the name of my creative business.
I believe no other country or in any other reality besides the one we live in would any parent worry about the name of a child to be assimilated with the potential culture they could belong to.
It is a crazy time we live in. It took a lot of courage and creativity for my parents to make the move from Venezuela to Austin, TX to create stable life for their family.
Moving forward I will be using the Reibert-Anthony name to explore and share my creativity.
Peace out,
Reibert-Anthony
