Day 3: Keep the Real One’s close
Good Morning! Buenos Dias!
Oye!Listen up! You need to keep the real one’s close. Those Real One’s are the ones that will support you but also give you constructive criticism when you need it. Thankfully I was able to find a group of Real One’s through the peer group that was set up in the Flourish/Bonnie Christine membership I have. I am grateful that I’ve been able to have this group of women to lean on when I needed support in my creative journey. We keep in touch through the app Discord and do Zoom calls at least once a month depending on everyones schedule.
I also consider my mom and little sister as my other Real One’s because she has been extremely supportive and realistic with when we discuss my creative goals.
I believe it is important to surround yourself with other people with big goals. This is easier said than done but absolutely necessary. There will be times where you believe other people are on the same level of growth as you but you will get it wrong. These moments need to be more of an encouragement than a disappointment because it just means you need to do more exploring and networking before you meet your ideal Real One’s.
Consider paying for a membership to a creative group. Ultimately that’s what made a difference in meeting other creatives. I attempted to find local creatives that I could meet up with but it is not that easy.
At first I had my doubts about being friends with people over the internet ( For the longest time I thought it was strange, and not something I would pursue). I thought it would be awkward and difficult to build any kind of friendship but that is fr from the truth. Im relaxing that all that matters is the type of person that you are and how open you are to different experiences that matters. Through this peer group I’ve opened myself to learning about the different methods there are in creating art.
Thank you to my Real One’s
Peace out,
Reibert-Anthony
